In 1975, Wyandotte Alarm opened its own central station and started monitoring its own customers. It gained immediate approval by Underwriters Laboratories for burglary and fire alarm installations, and approval by Factory Mutual for the monitoring of large industrial fire alarm systems. This was a first for the Detroit market area. Our central station features a redundant set of computers to ensure that no signal can be lost at any time. We also have dual stand-by generators to make certain that our power is never interrupted, which is a requirement by both UL and FM inspection agencies.
Today, Wyandotte Alarm monitors over 14,000 central station systems and employs 45 people on a full-time basis. We do not sub-contract our installation or monitoring services to other companies as is common in our industry today. We are a true electronic security company with all of the credentials. We install, monitor, and maintain Defense Industrial Security Systems, meet the NISPOM requirements, and issue UL 2050 certificates. We also have all necessary approvals for any insurance underwriter.
We are driven by values
Our security company stands out because we are deeply rooted in our core values, which guide every aspect of our operations and client interactions:
Integrity: We believe in doing the right thing, even when no one is watching. This principle forms the backbone of trust between us and our clients.
Vigilance: Staying alert and proactive is at the heart of what we do. We’re always on the lookout for potential security threats, so we can prevent incidents before they occur.
Helpfulness: Our staff are trained to assist, whether it’s guiding someone safely through a building, providing information, or responding to an emergency.
Professionalism: Every team member keeps learning, adapts to new security technology, and holds a high standard of service.
Trust: Clients should feel secure in the building and in knowing their security partner is reliable and transparent.
Customer-centric approach: We build the system around the property, not the other way around.
Community and safety: Beyond individual clients, we see ourselves as part of the broader community.
Culture of continuous improvement: We learn from each job and adapt when the threats change.
Ethical conduct: Our Values and Ethics Code is how we act, inside the legal rules and past them.
Empowerment through technology: Current tools are used in service of vigilance and helpfulness, not as a substitute for either.
These values aren’t just words; they’re practiced daily in our operations. By embedding these values into our company culture, we not only promise safety and security but deliver it through a framework that prioritizes ethical behavior, client satisfaction, and community welfare. This value-driven approach is why clients choose us — not just for security, but for peace of mind.
